Obituary

The pictures below are of those who gave their lives for the liberation of our area. They were killed in combat, died deported to Germany or shot without warning by the Nazis. 60 years after these events, it has been impossible for us to find all the pictures of the FTPF fighters. Do not appear here, all the people that have died fighting with the MUR (Mouvement Unifié de la Résistance) or within the Corps Franc Pomies.


ADER François

Joins the Maquis de Nay in June 1943 at the age of 20. Transferred to the Maquis of Nistos in September. On July 7 1944, during a reconnaissance mission he falls into a German ambush in the lande (Moor) d’Avezac. He is shot on sight. A stele in the lande d’Avezac carries his name.

AUBERT Irénée

20 years old, he joined the 3201ème Compagnie FTPF in early April 1944. Seriously wounded during an attack against an important German convoy in e=the rampe de Capvern  on 16/4/19444. He died during his transport to the Saint-Gauens hospital . A stele  on the rampe de Capvern carries his name.



BONNEAU Jean-Marie

36 years old carpenter. Arrested by the Gestapo on February 18, 1944 at Rebouc. Deported to Germany. Died at the Mauthausen death camp.




Cazes was a retiree that lived in Saint Laurent de Neste. He was working in his garden, when he was shot without warning by the Germans on August 2, 1944. His name appears on the stele of Saint Laurent de Neste.



CHICHOU RUMEAU Jean-Baptiste

Miller living in Nistos arrested by the Gestapo on February 22 1944. Deported to Germany, he was never heard of again. By a court ruling dated 31/12/1950 he is considered as dead on the date of his arrest 22/02/44.


Spanish civil war veteran and baker’s assistant at Mr. Plantat’s at Saint Laurent de Neste. At the time of his arrest by the Germans he tried to flee. The enemy will shoot him on the spot .His name appears on the stele of Saint Laurent de Neste.


Joins the 3201 FTPF on June 10, 1944. Dies of wounds during the battle of Tilhouse on June 29 1944. His name appears on the stele near the Tilhouse Church.

COMPS Joseph

Office clerk, at the age of 19 he is arrested by the Gestapo on February 18, 1944 at Rebouc. Deported to Germany, he dies at the Mauthausen death camp.

COMPS Marcellin

47 years old mechanic arrested on February 17 by the Gestapo at Rebouc . Both of them were deported to Germany and will die at Mauthausen. 



DUTHU Constance

Young mother of the Tilhouse commune. She will be shot and killed by the Germans during the battle on June 29 1944. Her name appears on the stele near the church of Tilhouse.

2 months old Innocent victim . This baby will die in Constance Duthu’s its mother’s arms during the battle of Tilhouse June 29, 1944. His name appears on the stele near the church of Tilhouse.


From Mazères de Neste. Designated for forced labor in Germany in June 1944. He doesn’t present himself and joins the 3201 FTPF Company . He was shot and killed by error during a mission he was tasked by the 3201st FTPF Company  in the Barousse.



From Lichon, joins the maquis in December 1943. Seriously ill, he will be cared for by Madame Dossat at Esparros. On Monday Avril 3, 1944, he goes to see a Doctor in Montréjeau , he is recognized and arrested by the Gestapo of Luchon. Deported to Germany, he will never come back from one of the death camps.


Young 19 year old student from Nistos. He will be arrested by the Germans on February 18, 1944 as an hostage. Deported to Germany where he will die without leaving any trace.


Young man with a very promising future from Hèches. Will die of his wounds  during the battle that took place in that commune on August 17, 1944. Le Boucher had stepped forwards voluntarily to participate in this battle.

NALBERT Jacques

From Lourdes, he joins the 3201st Company FTPF at the age of 27.
Died of his wounds in combat at Tilhouse June 29, 1944. His name appears on the stele near the church of Tilhouse.




SAGOLS Jean

War Name "Nestor".
Born at Tonneins on 26/09/1922.
Second year medical student.
Condemned in Agen in his absence to a one year prison term and a fine of 1,200 F for Resistance activities on 16/07/1943. On the run , he joins the Maquis de Nistos (65) in August 1943.
Affected to l'E.M. F.T.P.F (47) in march 44.
Dies accidentally near Agen on 26/08/1944.



OZUN Firmin

Farmer of 42 years of age. Was arrested  by the Gestapo 1944 at Rebouc. Deported to Germany he died at the Mauthausen death camp.



PARCADE Jean-Marie

Gendarmerie warrant officer at Hèches. At the age of 46 he will be arrested by the Gestapo on February 18 1944. Deported to Germany , he will die at the Mauthausen death camp. The Gendarmerie of Hèches proudly bears his name .




Saw operator of 43. Arrested by the Gestapo on February 18, 1944. Deported to Germany and died at the Mauthausen death camp.



PLANTAT Joseph

Baker in Saint Laurent de Neste, creator of the maquis de Nistos in June 1943. On August 2 1943 he is betrayed, he will try to escape when arrested. He will be shot and killed by the Germans. His name appears on the stele at Saint Laurent de Neste.

REY Louis-Joseph

16 years old on February 16 1944. He was going to wrk, when he heard the German truck turned around to go back to his father. Both will be arrested by the Gestapo. Déported to Germany young Louis Joseph will die in June 1944 at the Mauthausen death camp.


SAFORCADA François

From Arrens in the Val d’Arrens. At the end of Summer 1943 he’s 25 and joins the maquis of Nistos. During the night of March 15, 1944, back from a mission, he falls into a ravine. Was given a civilian burial by the population at Rebouc’s cemetery. 



SALLES Alphonse

Will die of his wounds during the battle of Hèches on August 17, 1944.



TRONCY Francois

Born in monbéliar (S.L.) on 31/01/1892. He is a carpenter by trade . Arrested in Rebouc by the Gestapo on February 18 1944 . Deported , he dies at the Mauthausen death camp.
